Puerta de Alcalá (Alcala Gate) in Madrid, Spain
The Puerta de Alcalá is at the centre of an enormous roundabout at the Madrid entrance. The complex neoclassical granite and stone structure was built in 1778 as the primary entrance to the Royal Court. Several famous sculptors of the day were charged with the various ornamental parts of the monument, but the overall design is by architect Francisco Sabatini.
